Proposal Story

Okay for those of you needing details on the proposal here they are!
Aaron and I had planned on having a Tuesday night date. For us that means a home cooked meal followed by NCIS. Aaron told me on Sunday that he was cooking dinner and I said that was great. We assembled dinner and chit chatted about the upcoming weekend with his family since they were coming in for his graduation. He said following dinner he wanted to take a quick walk to break in his new shoes.

After dinner we walked outside and it was sprinkling so Aaron said, "Let's give it a few minutes, I think it will clear up." I said "fine" and we both started working on our computers. About 10 minutes later he said, "Okay, let's go". I said "Aaron, it's still sprinkling, why don't we watch NCIS?" Aaron "No, no it's fine, let's go."

We started walking in my neighborhood to this little lake that always has geese, ducks and turtles hanging out. We started talking and Aaron was telling me all these things from Sunday's Man 2 Man series going on at church. (I thought he was just being his usual sweet self and basically taking the time to tell me he loved me before he moved.)

He told me that he would always honor me, protect me, be faithful to me, to pursue me all our lives. He asked me questions like "Do you want to be with me?" "Are you sure you still want to marry me?" etc. I told him "yes, when ever you ask I'll say yes." We talked about all the things we had in common and that marriage would be a lot of work but we would be diligent about making it work. He said "Well I have one question left then." I turned around and he is on bended knee saying "Sara Michelle Edge, will you marry me?" I said "Yes, of course" and started crying. For those of you that know me well, I never cry.

We sat for a little bit on a bench and I said "We have to call my mom!" He said "We will, your parents already know about the proposal- I showed them the ring on Sunday". We walked back to my place and he said "I'm so glad the rain cleared up- I wanted to propose when the sun was setting. Oh and I have a few gifts for you." We returned to my place and he had hidden 3 Gerber daisies (my favorites) on my back porch- one red (color of his Alma mater OU), one orange (for my Alma mater OSU) and one yellow to represent us. We planted them in my yard. We then walked to his car and he pulls out this book Bridal Bargains. I had saw it in Dec. when we were in Baltimore and I said "It would be good for you to get me a book like this when we get engaged". He wrote down the title and has kept the paper since then.

So yeah I was really surprised but it was so us- very low-key, just him and me and very sweet and I'm so proud of Aaron with all the thought he put into the whole thing. Details for the ladies on the ring: 14k white gold, with a center round cut diamond, and two inset diamonds on each side. The ring was his great, great Aunt Clare's ring which his mom thinks is from the 1920s. Inside the word 'happiness' is stamped inside (not by Aaron).
